How to Disagree

A series that explores the different stances we use to disagree in everyday life with our spouses, the mechanic, and the powers. Some of these positions stem from urban dances (which in turn draw on rural dances) and protests, gestural movements that are interlinked.

Approx 42 x 29cm, acrylic on acid free paper.

The storm. Tufani.
Sio leo. Not today.
You can do what you want, but. Unaweza kufanya utakacho, lakini.
Not this way or that. Siyo hivyo wala vile.
Enough. Tosha.
Go away. Nenda zako.
We are here. Tupo.

Tulia. Take it easy.
You can't pass here. Usipite hapa.
You can't pass here. Usipite hapa.
Sio hapa, huku. Not here, there.
Basi! Enough!
We are coming. Tunakuja.
Haki ya Mungu. I swear.
